Transform Dry hair to Silky Smooth Locks

We all have our own life issues. Some deal with acne, some with oily/dry skin and some with those DRY HAIR. I had a few people DM me about their hair issues and asking me about my hair care routine, the products that I use or just simply believing that I was born with it. But believe it or not, I used to have extremely dry hair too. Back in 2010 after I got my hair permanently straightened, they turned harsh and were straight like a broom. Well, I was in school then, it was the new cool. I had my juniors come up to me and ask me if they could touch my hair (WHAT!?) but I had some friends who would remind me how harsh and damaged my hair was. My hair was dry, breaking and filled with split ends. Though there are things like the Keratin treatment but we all want permanent, cheap and long lasting solutions. Let me tell you how I transformed my dry hair to smooth locks & so can you.

1.Get it trimmed

Read Carefully. Trimming doesn't lead to hair growth but it makes your hair look healthy and smooth which is why people recommend getting a trim when your hair looks lifeless. We all need a trim on a regular basis, at least once in two months.

2. Use an Oil Based Shampoo

I had no clue there was something about differentiating your hair products on the basis of oil and gel based but IT IS SO IMPORTANT. I used L'Oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish Shampoo as it did wonders to my dry hair and with every wash my hair turned smoother and better.

Pro Tip: If your shampoo leaves your hair smooth but leads to a lot of hairfall, just let it go sweetie! I know it's hard. I have been there but it's for your own benefit. You’ll find the right product for your hair which will not only leave your hair smooth but strong too. We shall never settle for less.

3. Wash Your hair twice

Yes, you heard me right. Wash your hair twice, not only in a week but in a single hair care day. We need to wash our hair twice to remove the oil and the dirt. Washing your hair once doesn't always remove the dirt from that sticky scalp, but that doesn't mean to use the same amount of shampoo. You can just take a little bit of shampoo for the second wash for a quick rinse & trust me you’ll notice the change.

4. Never Ever skip a Conditioner or a Hair Spa

I do not understand how people who complain about dry hair skip a conditioner in their routine. It is as important as moisturizing your skin. When my hair was too dry, I used a L'Oreal Paris Total Repair 5 Masque on every wash. I would towel dry my hair and use a lil bit of the mask on my damp hair but skip the roots please, if you don’t want an oily scalp later. Leave it for 2-3 minutes. (Just follow the universal rule and take a bath in that time)

5.The Secret Routine

I would have asked you to rinse the spa off above but here’s a twist. I used this technique and call it my own little secret when I had extremely dry hair. I didn't wash the spa off completely. I just felt the need for a little bit of spa to stay on my hair as a moisturiser so I would never rinse it out completely and it left my hair smooth and silky. Try it & if you feel your hair is sticky or oily then simply your hair doesn't need that amount of moisture and you can always wash it off with water later.

6. Use a Hair Serum

Last in my hair care routine was a hair serum which I used on my damp hair after towel drying it.  I used L'Oreal Paris Total Repair 5 Serum. Just apply it on your hair, leaving the scalp, to give an amazing shine to your hair. But again, we may or may not need it. Use it once and if your hair feels sticky, you can always rinse it off but you gotta try these products before you know what exactly your hair needs.

7. Change your products with your hair needs

Trust me when I say this, our hair needs different care and products depending upon the weather, the water or simply when you move to a new place. It needs a different care and products depending upon the changed environment. Infact, if these products worked for you like it did for me then after a while your hair would need new products once it turns to normal.

I had a hard time once the same products which once made my hair smooth, made it sticky after a few years. I soon realised, it was just them asking for new products. After a series of trials, I am currently using Sunsilk Stunning Black Shine Shampoo with a L'Oreal Paris Colour Protect Conditioner and my hair is the same as before. They feel light and healthy. I don’t use a serum anymore because my hair simply doesn't need it anymore and that’s OK.

So take a deep breath and try the mentioned products. I am sure it will work for you. Till the time, take care of your hair, keep them away from those heating rods and let me rejuvenate. Let me know if it worked for you or even if you felt a little difference. DM me on my Instagram- @girl.with.the.pixie.tattoo if you wanna know more about the products or wanna tell me about your hair care routine.
